Biography

Alain Zitouni, self-taught painter, combines lyrical abstraction with chimerical landscape.

Born on 27 September 1963 Castres in the south of France, he has been the embodiment of his experiences since a difficult childhood. They forced him to become independent at a very young age. Life’s ordeals led him to question the purpose of existence and its mystery, God, Death, Good, Evil, all the realms of the mystery. A spiritual quest completed his personality.

His journey :

He will never cease to seek to nourish his soul with astrology, Zen Buddhism, meditation etc., all the masters, involving his body through years of Tai Chi practice.

The artist continues his quest expressing himself through music: guitar, writing, singing…

His beginnings :

For several years, together with his partner, « his inspiring muse », he has taken the plunge and has allowed himself to give free rein to his inspiration, « his art is born ».

The fear of the edge of the abyss that the blank canvas represents questions him and the inner work is externalized. The emptiness of his mind imposes itself on the canvas and his world pours out in a thousand coloured shades. It is the contrasting interface between matter and spirit that is revealed.

His style invites the viewer to travel, taking him to the very edge of the canvas. The journey is completed when, engaged, he or she experiences the emotion by projecting their own vision of escape into the forms and colours. The image is constructed, named.

« There are as many universes as there are observers ».

A lot of sincere humility from the painter who will favour the dialogue by allowing the art lover to make the space his own and thus complete his gesture.
